Why do I need insurance to rent the venue for an event with alcohol?

If your event includes alcohol, we require proof of liability insurance to protect both you and the venue from any potential risks. This ensures coverage in case of accidents, property damage, or other alcohol-related incidents.

What type of insurance is required?

Renters must obtain a Special Event Liability Insurance policy that includes host liquor liability coverage. The policy should list our venue as an additional insured party.

How much coverage is required?

We require a minimum coverage of $1,000,000 in general liability and liquor liability insurance if alcohol will be served or consumed at the event.

Where can I get this insurance?

You can obtain event liability insurance from your personal insurance provider or through specialized event insurance companies such as:

Does this requirement apply if I hire a licensed bartender or caterer?

Yes. Even if a licensed bartender or catering company is serving alcohol, the renter must still provide event liability insurance with liquor liability coverage. You may also check if your vendor carries their own insurance that meets our requirements.

What proof of insurance do I need to provide?

A Certificate of Insurance (COI) must be submitted. The COI should:

  • List our venue as an additional insured
  • Specify the required coverage limits
  • Clearly include liquor liability coverage if alcohol is present

What happens if I don’t provide proof of insurance?

If you do not submit the required proof of insurance by the deadline, you may not be allowed to serve alcohol at your event, or your rental agreement may be canceled.

Are other types of celebrations allowed?

Yes! While we do not allow weddings, we welcome wedding receptions, anniversary parties, family reunions, birthday celebrations, fundraisers, and other private events that align with our venue’s mission and guidelines.

Yes, we allow wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners and bridal showers as long as they are separate from a wedding ceremony. These events must comply with our rental policies.
